Picking you up from your accommodation, we head straight for the Tasman coast and the beautiful Bay of Fires (or Larapuna to give it it’s Aboriginal name). A region of stunning sugar-white beaches, clear blue water and orange-hued granite, the bay was named in 1773 by Captain Tobias Furneaux. Approaching the bay on his ship Adventure, Captain Furneaux believed the bays themselves were ablaze. As he got closer to shore it became apparent that it was in fact Aboriginal camp fires lining the shore, but fortunately the name stuck!

We continue our exploration of the Bay of Fires, driving through the picturesque Binalong Bay and on to Boat Harbour Point. Here we will hop out of the 4×4 to fully appreciate this idyllic setting. Get your cameras ready as your guide demonstrates the perfect way to capture the breathtaking views over Binalong Bay and all the way up the coast.

With so much still left to see, we return to the vehicle and resume our coastal adventure. The next stop is the picturesque Round Hill Point. Here you’ll be surrounded by beach perfection, with both Swimcart Beach and Jeanneret Beach nearby. From here, we move on to Cosy Corner, a beautifully tranquil spot where you can stroll along the beach and enjoy a freshly prepared morning tea.

Next up, it’s time to hit the road again! We will check out the The Gardens, Mount William National Park and then Policemen’s Point for a tranquil afternoon in the world-class, on-site bird sanctuary. Located at the exact point where Ansons Bay meets the Bay of Fires, the sanctuary is a popular feeding ground for the local Silver Gulls, Pacific Gulls, Pied Oystercatchers, and Fairy Terns.

Leaving the bird sanctuary, we move swiftly on to the Eddystone Point Lighthouse. Built in 1883 by Scottish head mason James Galloway, the complex, which includes historic lighthouse keepers’ cottages, is a great place to pause for something to eat. As your personal chef prepares your meal, feel free to take a stroll along the rocks down to the beach or take a closer look at the old lighthouse and learn more about its fascinating history. On the menu will be a freshly cooked meal expertly prepared from fresh Tasmanian seasonal produce and served with your choice of Tasmanian east coast wines or local craft beer.

We leave the coast behind and start our journey inland over the undulating hills and through the valleys of the Blue Tier of the North East Highlands. Nestled in amongst the forest of musk, myrtle, mosses and Fern Trees is a giant Eucalyptus Regnans. Said to be the tallest flower plant in the world, the ‘Blue Tier Giant’ is 19.4m in girth and would take 15 adults to wrap their arms all the way around it!

It’s time to begin our journey home, but not before stopping off in the fertile valleys of the Weldborough and Pyengana region to sample some of the best dairy produce in all of Tasmania. Once you’ve had your fill, we will get back on the road to Bicheno. The route home hugs the Tasman coast, providing you with one last chance to take in the stunning views before we drop you back at your accommodation.
